Working Together

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

How was your week end?
Ours was

WONDERFUL

The cute engineer and I
spent part of Saturday
stacking wood.

That little stack took
 A LONG TIME

and

we feel like we didn't even
make a dent in the pile

Why did we move and stack wood?

Well,

We wanted to crank up the wood stove
to see if it really would heat the cottage

Of course our little gardening buddy
was there to help...

UNTIL

She was put in
Scottie Jail
for visiting the house
across the street without permission.

We rang in the new year
watching Band of Brothers
with Jen

We woke up on Monday
with a little snow on the ground.
Let me tell ya...
It is

B E A U T I F U L!!!

Thanks to
our little stove in the woods
 the cottage is toasty warm!

I've been pondering the past year
and wondering about the changes that will come
with the new year.

I am so thankful
that our
AMAZING
God
is the same God of yesterday
the same God  today
and will be the same God  tomorrow!

Have a great day

~Nancy~

  1. Nancy, I love seeing photos of your new place. Your woodstove looks great and being outdoors, the mess stays outdoors. Wonderful!
David and I have cut, split and stacked our fair share of firewood. (Well, I've stacked.) If the labor bothers your backs, I recommend lumbar belts for both of you. We both have them and wouldn't want to do several of our chores without them.
We still own a hydraulic splitter. Some friends of ours have it one their farm. We just can't get rid of it, hoping to have a woodstove again one day.
What type of wood are you using? We always used pine. Cottonwood smoke made us sick and it burned really fast. You have hardwoods available, which is so fortunate.
If your soil is acidic, you can use your ash in your garden. Wood ash is quite alkaline. You'll want to mix it in well.
I hope all my tips don't drive you crazy. It's fun to see you doing things we've done too.
We're having another warm, windy day here in the Northcountry.
    Thanks for sharing more photos........Denise
