Walking

It felt like yesterday that this sweet baby learned to walk.
Once she took that first step there was no turning back!
This is my oldest daughter Katie.
This Saturday she is going to talk a walk!
She will be graduating with honors from Cedarville University with a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Katie, we are so proud of you!!!

Catching Up and Thank You

Good morning...
I wanted to take a moment and catch up with y'all
My sweet neighbor is doing as well as can be expected.
Some days are better than others.
Yesterday was a hard one for her and I was able to share some of your sweet words with her.
We both wept.
Thank you for thinking of her and lifting her up in prayer.
I loved so many of the ideas for my front porch.
Now, I am on a mission to find a cute little table and some colorful plants.
I will post a picture when it's done.
Thank you for ALL the great ideas.
Thank you so much for all the encouraging words you have spoken to me.
Each one your comments has been such a blessing.
Have a great day!
"Therefore encourage one another and build up one another,
just as you also are doing."

A Cheerful Countenance

Today I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
I have been grUmpy!
My friend Carrie from http://farmingonfaith.blogspot.com/ posted this verse on her blog this morning

"a merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance" Proverbs 15:13

To be honest I really didn't want to listen to this sweet little verse.
I wanted to stay right where I was...grUmpy!
I had things to do, you know, those pleasant things like dishes, laundry, bathrooms...
I did finish my chores and had time to do a little hand sewing and finished my sample quilt.

Before

After

The mail arrived late this afternoon and brought a sweet surprise.

A new magazine!

So tonight I am sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of tea, my new magazine and cheerful countenance!
Have a great evening!

Thankful Thursday

What do you do when you get home from Bible study and there is a chill in the air?

Well...

We have a lovely cup of coffee, roasted by none other than my cute hubby. A few years ago Rich learned to roast his own coffee beans and let me tell you...it has some sweet benefits! So on this chilly night I am thankful for a sweet cup of coffee.

A Full Heart

Do you ever have days where you just don't know where time goes?
That was my day!
Wednesday mornings always begin with a phone call with my sweet prayer partner Mary.
We have done this for years and it is just the sweetest time.
Then I moved on to the mountain of laundry and a few miscellaneous chores.
Next, I donned on my gardening gloves and transplanted
some raspberry bushes.
I hope they make it!
Time for lunch.
Back outside for some more transplanting.
Lost all track of time and had to rush a shower.
Got to church just in time to share this evening with my group of second graders.
We sang, shared the Word, played.
I had to pinch myself...
I am so humbled that I get to be a part of this group of kids.
Hugged their sweet little necks good-bye.
As I look back on this day I can say without any doubt my heart is full!

Help Needed

Hello,

I trust that you all had a great week end.
We enjoyed a lovely although chilly week end.
Today was sooo nice I just couldn't stay inside another minute.
My garden buddy and I worked in the rose garden today.
Some of the roses didn't fair to well through the winter.
I'm hoping with a little TLC they will bounce back.
I have also been spending a little time on my front porch and...

I need some help...

We recently resided our house and now I just don't know what to do with the front porch. I would love to hear some of your ideas!

Sunday Verse

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence
and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on
these things."

Last week I was out shopping and came across this cute little glass jar. Well, it was fifty percent off so naturally I put it in my cart and off I went. I have been wanting to make a terrarium for some time now. You see I cannot keep a house plant alive and someone told me that these little fellas are foolproof. So I am stepping out in faith.

Today I went out and bought the plants and soil along with gravel and charcoal. First I layered a little bit of the gravel, then came the charcoal (I found both of these at the pet store), some soil and then last but not least the plants.

What do you think?

Hello one and all. I would like you to meet my gardening buddy, Libby. Libby is all about helping in the garden. The other day was one of those perfect days to get my fingernails dirty! I put on the old gardening shoes and out we went. Now, Libby is a great little helper. Digging is just one of her many talents and she wasted no time in finding the perfect spot to start the whole to no where. A great day was had by both of us, and we accomplished much, so I thought a nice warm, sudsy bath would be a great way to end the day. Libby had other plans, and let me tell ya a bath was not one of them. I hope you have been able to get out and enjoy the spring air.

A New Day

Today is a new day! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and God's mercies are new. My heart is about to beat right out of my chest...I just want to praise Him. The Holy Spirit was all over the worship service this morning...I mean all over it! I couldn't help but think of this verse...

"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,"
1 Peter 1:8

This afternoon my family and I will be attending the memorial service of my sweet neighbor's son. I am humbled at how God has brought family and friends together to lift each other up whether it is with a hug, a tear, a smile, remembering the good times or a message left on a computer.

I am thankful to have been a witness to this and I want to thank you all for your prayers and sweet comments.

A Day Like No Other

Today was such a difficult day.
I have one of the sweetest neighbors ever! She had been on vacation with her granddaughter and was due to come home today. She made it safely only to be told that her only son was the victim of a car-jacking this morning while on his way to work. He was shot and died shortly after that. We are all still in a state of shock to say the least. My neighbor is doing pretty well under the circumstances, but she and her family could use your prayers please! I am going to boldly say that the young man who did this could use your prayers as well as his family. My family could use your prayers as we are standing in until her daughter gets here sometime tomorrow and will continue to do what ever they need. I know the Lord is not surprised by what happened today and I find such peace in knowing that His ways are not my ways and that His unfailing love is our comfort!
Thank you

It's coming together!

Yesterday, I spent an enjoyable morning at quilting class. Some of us were able to start putting together the sampler. Here's mine, what da ya think? I love the pink and green combo, it says spring to me. Spring is finally making its way out after a cold and long winter. I love going to quilting class! Laura is our brilliant teacher, I love her British accent, it's very calming. Linda has taken up making three quilts, one for each of her daughters, and one for her nephew. Mary is at the same stage I am at. We have taken up racing to see who will finish first. Then there is Phyllis... What a character! She just doesn't get it and is still working on her first block. She keeps us laughing with her comments on mistakes. Quilting class is just a blast and I'm enjoying every minute. Have a great day!

A Breakfast Date

Today is Saturday and that means...date time with my sweet hubby.
Every Saturday morning we will get up and go for breakfast.
We have done this for years now, it is my favorite way to end the week.
Today we tried a new place called East Egg.
I missed a "bloggertunity" to quote my friend Renee at Sewn With Grace because
I forgot to take pics (can you tell I am new at this) but let me tell you this place is very cute.
The colors are so bright and cheerful they just greet you with big ole smile.
We had the sweetest waitress, who kept our coffee filled with some of the best coffee EVER!
We also splurged and ordered, get this, homemade donut holes

Mmmmmmm

What a treat! So, what have you been up to on this Saturday?

Wanna Be

The other day my sweet hubby called on his way home from work with news that he had a surprise for me. Well...not just for me but all of us. Now I LOVE a surprise and couldn't wait for him to get home! About ten minutes later he walked in holding (carefully) an egg carton and in this carton were the most beautiful farm eggs. You would have thought it was Christmas time...
I was excited!
A really great guy Rich works with brought them in to him. They had been gathered that morning. Now, ya'all might be saying come on Nancy...really...farm eggs.
Let me tell ya I am a farmgirl wanna be!
I would love to have a little plot of land out in the country with a great old farm house, all kinds of farm animals, a nice space for a garden and of course flower beds galour!
Rich on the other hand is a condo dweller wanna be.
So, a comprimise was struck. We live in town...in a cute little house with room for a fiesty scottie dog, a few flower beds and a couple raised beds for veggies!
Life is good!
Have a terrific week end.
