Almost there...

Our spring here in SW MI has
been a little different this year.
This past Friday it was in the thirties
(COLD, COLD, COLD)
Saturday the temps bloomed
into the fifties
and yesterday the
temps skyrocketed into the eighties (smile)
All this to say that...
last night it was pretty warm and muggy.
Not a good combination for pleasant dreaming.
When I finally laid my head on the pillow
I had the fan going, all the covers kicked off
and I was still sweating.

This morning as I woke up I thought I was dreaming...
You see, as a kid I grew up in
the rocky mountain region of this beautiful country.
where summer mornings are usually on the cool side.

As I was still asleep in the early hours of the morning
the cute engineer (on his way to work)
opened the windows and let the cool
morning find its way in.

In that foggy wake up haze my
mind took me back to some of those
sweet cool mornings.
it was as if I was almost there....

I hope you have a terrific day!

~Nancy~

  1. Ugh, muggy nights are the worst! And it's only April! I wish I had a mountain view like that.

  2. Hmmm. That looks like Livingston.
I too enjoy our cool mornings. They are still in the 20s here, but during the summer months our night temps will drop into the 40s at first and then into the 50s. It makes for comfortable sleeping.
Our snow is melted in town and when it gets more dry, I will be back to the yardwork.
Fertilizer costs a fortune at the hardward store, so David suggested I drive to a fertilizer company outside of town and have them fill some buckets for me. Then I can also stop at a grain elevator for some wheat. Lots to do this week. A sure sign of spring!
Today I'm making rolls and a pie for an older friend at church whose family will be branding on Tues. I have garden class, but she invited Jonny to come out to be her helper and to see what branding is all about. He'll love it, I'm sure.
    Have a great week.............Denise

  3. Hi Nancy, Love the pic-and you know I love the Rockies. Today they looked majestic.
I know what you mean about keeping the fan going and sheets thrown back. I love the window open but we hear too much noise from the highway so mostly keep it closed.
    Have a delightful afternoon/evening.
    Hugs, Noreen

  4. Nancy, You asked about planting some starts outside. I would wait till the danger of frost has passed. For us, that can mean June. We are a higher elevation and are closer to the mountains than we were before and it makes a difference.
I have the opportunity to take a class about gardening on the Rocky Mountain Front at a nearby church on Saturday. I think I will go for it. It will be a great supplement to the Master Gardener's class since local people will be sharing their knowledge.
It's windy today, so I'm hoping tomorrow will be better so I can get out and rake some more.

  5. We've had the same kind of weather here on the west coast...from thr 40's to the 80's in a day. My fruit trees don't quite know what to make of it.

  6. Interesting that it is really warm where you are..I was watching the news and they said America had had all kinds of weather from huge hailstones...like golfballs to flooding and tornados...and sun in California. I guess it's a big country like Australia.

  7. Hi Nancy, What a gorgeous photo! I can't imagine having such severe swings in the weather! We may have that once or twice a year, but I don't think I could handle it on any kind of a regular basis.

Hope it gets evened out and wonderful soon!!
    HUGS,
    Becky
